This comic is beautiful. It's amazing how so many different writers and illustrators came together to make this happen. The proceeds benefit victims, survivors, and their families through Equality Florida. One- and two-page stories fill this graphic novel. Some are illustrations, while others are poems or comic strips. They address different aspects of the Pulse tragedy, some directly and some more broadly.The Pulse incident was very close to me. I've been to Pulse many times, having gone to college less than an hour away. I even had my first kiss with my now husband there. The night of the shooting, I had friends that left mere minutes before it started. Many of the stories bring me back to that Sunday morning, trying to get a hold of any friends that may have been there.My eyes were wet after reading this whole graphic novel in one sitting.I give this graphic novel compilation a 5/5. You should buy this now! Not only are there wonderful stories and reflections of the LGBTQ community, but it goes to a wonderful cause.
Spent a good afternoon just reading and letting all my emotions fly. I cried, laughed, smiled, even had moments of anger. Very therapeutic and super thankful this was put together. There's everything to find in this book from poems to stories with awesome artworks varying from style and color. A reminder in physical form that love will always win.
Do not buy this comic if you're expecting a compelling storyline or anything like that and definitely don't buy it if you've heard the half truth that's being told that it's the only comic that features Harry Potter and characters it's just a single page with a picture of Ron Hermoine and Harry and it has a quote from the book I give this five stars because it's for a good cause and it's the only reason I do not regret buying this you won't read it more then once and then it will sit on a shelf but it's for a great cause and it does have some very cool art and panels amongst some of the more boring ones the point of this was to get artists together for a good cause and make something to raise money for the victims and the families of the nightclub shooting lots of Cool stuff but no long stories I don't think there's anything longer than 2 maybe 3 pages it's for a good cause which deserves praise but honestly it's very mediocre as far as comics go if you have the money and want to help people in need I say buy it if you are strapped for cash and looking for something of high entertainment value go with something else
A beautiful anthology. It is smart, emotional and enlightening. Just the long list of contributors, from writers, to artists, colorists and those who did the lettering is a testament to the Love it took to bring this book to fruition. It is an example of what can come of the ugliest and most painful ofcircumstances when people come together to inform and inspire through the pain of loss and horror of what happened that night. It also addresses things that reflect what the LGBT community have to endure just as a matter of fact in daily life. One can empathize, but personally not being a part of that community, the more enlightened the better. I feel more deeply the pain and joy of those who are represented here. Not having read graphic text (comics) since the late 60's it was also a journey of revisiting the slow-burn of having text and amazing artwork to revel in. This time much of it through tears, but a lovely nostalgic trip back in time. I was especially impressed to see a triolet. Never expected to see aformulaic poem in a graphic format. It was beautifully written and seemed anachronistic and delightful to be in a project such as this. The money all goes to charity. If just for that, you should buy this book.
Purchased this to support the victim's and their families of the night club shooting in Orlando, FL. Not usually a comic book fan, but I really enjoyed the stories and artwork inside. (Although it took forever to arrive - think they've had to print beyond expecations.)
I've literally just received my package containing the 5 copies of "Love is Love" I should have bought 20 copies. Leafing through the pages and seeing how much the writers and Artists had contributed has brought me to unstoppable wetness in my eye area. Pulse Orlando was a tragic event and the victims need to be celebrated and loved as this book is doing.If you have the money, buy as many copies of this book and give them to anyone who you think would benefit from a good cry.Crying is good. Whereas I am not personally a devotee of either comic strips or graphic novels, I found the concept of this book - a composite of one-page graphic dedications in memoriam of the PULSE nightclub massacre - extremely vital and valuable. Even more important is the fact that profits from this publication are earmarked to benefit the survivors and families of the fallen. Since there were so many diverse contributors, there is a huge variety in terms of the quality of the artwork as well as the ideas expressed, but the overall impact is extraordinary. I hope it receives very broad circulation.
