I bought this book for my education methods class before student teaching. I love the layout of the book, very attractive layout! Easier to read, since the text is not in the typical textbook format. The only problem with this book is the binding. The pages started falling out before I was through the first chapter. I took the book to Staples, and they spiral bound it for about $6.
Great overview of the progressive thinking in education. A bit unrealistic argument/expectation that new schools should be build to fulfill the requirements of proper learning environment. Limited concentration on how to retrofit already existing physical structures/schools in a relatively fiscally responsible way to fit all those listed requirements. Dreaming is great, but reality requires different kind of invention. Maybe next book will tackle that.
This book was unbelievably insightful. As masters student in architecture working on my thesis I found it extremely helpful for classroom design and creative space design. I also greatly appreciated the strong graphics which showed there was a holistic design approach to the book in general.
A good work, something i would recommend for anyone interested in redesign their approach to education.
I bought this book for a final paper I had to do and let me tell you it was the best money I had spend all semester. GOOD BOOK. GOOD INFORMATION. AWESOME VISUALS. This book has from top to bottom DESIGN written all over it. From the lettering to the images everything is awesome and interesting. love it :)
The book reads very easily. It doesn't take long time get through. It is becoming dated. Many of the concepts have been incorporated.
When you hear the title third teacher it doesn't really make you think of the environment, it seems like it will tell us how to make teaching easuer.
