This is an unusually good travel guide! I always use several books and the internet to plan my trips, but I ended up depending on this one 90% and I think my trip was better for it (it was fabulous). The writer is really witty, and makes the history of New Orleans really come to life. But what I liked best is that she is practical in her advice. She gives you enough info so that you can see what can be skipped, and is also really clear about how to get around. And the book has a great itineraries section so you can organize your time logically.Some advice from me: Don't skip the WWII Museum (it's amazing, and take at least half a day as the book suggests). Go to Preservation Hall (amazing) but don't waste your money reserving seats. And a lot of the restaurants in this book are brand new and REALLY popular, so get advance reservations.
This is a "must have" for anyone who is serious about learning the ins and outs of New Orleans. I had the 2016 guide, gave that one to a friend who right now is in NOLA and I bought myself the 2018 guide for my upcoming trip to NOLA at Christmas!! Lots of valuable information, easy to read and just the right size to take with you when you go to NOLA, not heavy or cumbersome!!
I come to New Orleans about 4 times a year. There is always something new to explore. The book is so handy for finding restaurants, music venues, and interesting walks. My friend I visit in Louisiana uses the book too even though he would be considered a local.
I've bought older versions of this book befor. Loved the walking tours but adding the foodie tour is a great idea! Can't wait to explore the city alone with confidence
Nice overview of New Orleans only missing that you can get a New Orleans pass that gives entry to 25+attractions. Just google the pass. Well worth it.
Lots of invaluable information, Bigger than I thought, so a bit too big to carry in a purse, but a wonderful reference book.
Be aware : There are no pictures/images.... it's very disappointing
